West Lethbridge will have new place to play

The puck has dropped, the curling rock has been thrown and a leisure centre is in the works.

 On Jan. 26, Lethbridge MP Jim Hillyer announced that the city has received $10 million from the federal government towards building a westside recreation campus.

Unearned praise hinders students' success

An “A” for effort is no longer valid in the classroom.


Until recently, many in the field of education believed that building up a child’s self-esteem would provide them with a better foundation for achievement. The routine affirmation of student intelligence was considered beneficial.

Bill Nye still rockin' the bow tie

University of Lethbridge students, several wearing bold bow ties, began lining up outside the doors of the First Choice Savings Centre on Monday Jan. 23 as early as 11 a.m. They were there to see a man who played a part in their thirst for learning and knowledge.
